AURANOX TECHNOLOGY
Innovative concrete roof tiles with Auranox technology:
clears air pollution for a better quality of life
MONIER strives to develop products that match to one of our greatest objectives: to preserve and protect the environment while providing a better living atmosphere. We know that this objective is important to our customers as well, which is why our industry-leading innovations are developed with our customers in mind. By providing attractive, functional roofs that also help our customers do their part to protect the climate, MONIER does its part to give back to the environment too. One of our most recent innovations reflecting this effort is the Auranox roof tile, which breaks down nitric oxide molecules that pollute the air, thereby improving air quality and providing a better living atmosphere.
What is Auranox and how does it work?
Auranox is a new pure mineral surface for MONIER roof tiles that was developed by the Group’s Technical Centre. The advantages provided by Auranox are due to the incorporation of a photo catalytic agent – titanium dioxide - within the surface, and its specific and unique microstructure. Titanium dioxide is a mineral that is also found in paints and foodstuffs.

- The surface of Auranox roof tiles breaks down nitrogen oxide molecules that pollute the air.
The photo catalytic agent breaks down nitrogen oxide molecules in the air, helping minimise air pollution. Nitrogen oxide in air pollution can cause respiratory diseases, and can be harmful to plants and trees. They are usually released during the combustion process, for example in engines and heating systems. The photo catalytic properties in Auranox are long lasting and kind to the environment.
Due to a specific microstructure, resistance to erosion is greatly enhanced on tiles with an Auranox surface. This microstructure also dries faster after the rain, which in combination with the sun and the photo catalytic agent, minimises the accumulation of dirt and the growth of algae.
