N. Erich Gerlach celebrates his 70th birthday

On 22 April 2010, an outstanding personality in the German and international building materials industry celebrates his 70th birthday – N. Erich Gerlach. Up until the year 2000, N. Erich Gerlach was CEO of today’s MONIER Group, the world’s leading provider of building materials for pitched roofs as well as of innovative roof, chimney and ventilation systems.

N. Erich Gerlach joined the then Braas & Co. GmbH on 1st January 1967, where he first of all worked in market research, public relations and as head of marketing. In 1978 he was appointed to the management board and became CEO in 1987. At that time the Group, which then as now included the well-established brands Braas, Redland and Wierer, was not only operating in Germany, but also active in several European countries. In the course of the takeover by the Lafarge Group in 1997, N. Erich Gerlach was appointed to the Group Executive Committee of Lafarge S.A., Paris, in September 1998 and from then on was responsible for the roofing business worldwide. In the summer of 2000 he retired at the age of 60.
