Paul Kolowratnik retires after 29 years with the company

A change of generation at the Monier Group, the world’s leading supplier of innovative roof, chimney and ventilation systems, active in 40 countries: effective 1 May 2011, Dr Gerrit Sames has been appointed the new Chief Technology & Production Officer (CTPO) by the Board of the Monier holding company of the Monier Group S.à r.l. and thus joined the management team of the Monier Group. 50-year old Sames took over from Paul Kolowratnik, who left the company mid-June 2011 to retire after 29 years.
Mechanical engineer Dr Gerrit Sames has many years of experience in research & development, production and quality management and has held executive positions in the solar and heating industry. Most recently, he was board member (COO) at Schott Solar AG, where he was responsible for the departments production & technology, logistics, purchasing and quality management. Prior to that, from 1992 until 2002, he had held a number of positions in the industrial sector of Buderus Heiztechnik GmbH.
Dr Gerrit Sames completes the three-person management team of the Monier Group, which also includes the Group’s CEO Pepyn Dinandt and CFO Dr Jürgen Koch. The team of managers controls the strategic orientation of the Group’s subsidiaries in 40 countries at the headquarters in Luxembourg. In addition to production, Sames’ responsibilities also include the Group’s research and development activities and purchasing. He is further responsible for the Business Line Energy Systems.
About the change of management, Pepyn Dinandt comments as follows: “With the appointment of Gerrit Sames, we have found an experienced manager who will develop the Monier Group in all areas together with us and expand its market-leading position internationally through innovation. This applies as much to our core business of concrete and clay roof tiles, roofing components and chimney systems as it does to our more recent products for energy-efficient construction in the area of pitched roof insulation, PV and solar thermal systems and heating and ventilation systems.”
About the retirement of Paul Kolowratnik, he says: “Paul Kolowratnik’s retirement marks the end of an era. He shaped the company for almost three decades with his expertise, in-depth understanding of the market and his entrepreneurial spirit.
