PROCESS OPTIMISATION
We are continuously improving the performance of our worldwide network of production plants. Therefore, all business units take part in a continuous process of performance measurement and benchmarking against internal and external targets.
Industrial experts within our business units worldwide are supported by a MONIER Technical Centre specialist team comprising geologists, material scientists, chemists, physicists, product designers and engineers from a very wide range of disciplines.
Energy consumption is a major focus for reasons of both cost and environmental impact. Our process experts work with their colleagues in the business units and external service companies to reduce electricity consumption and fuel use in our plants, particularly in our kilns, dryers and curing chambers. Recent projects include the use of heat recovery and cogeneration systems to reduce the carbon footprint of some of our products by as much as 20%.
Our team of material scientists and process specialists improve the materials recipes
used for our concrete roof tiles. Improvement targets include cost, product performance and the reduction of waste and other environmental impacts.
