MONIER Netherlands launches product to protect birds
Wednesday 09, April 2008
MONIER Netherlands recently launched a breakthrough roofing product called Vogelvide, which aims to protect birds by creating a safe space where they can nest between roof tiles and the under construction of a roof.
In recent years, new Dutch building regulations had led to the inability for birds to reach these spaces within roofs, which sparrows especially favour for nesting and breeding. As a result, the sparrow, which was already endangered in the Netherlands, declined in number even more.
Vogelvide was developed by MONIER Netherlands in close cooperation with the Dutch Foundation for Bird Protection. It serves as a breakthrough in protecting birds in the Netherlands, especially the sparrow, as it enables the birds to nest in roof spaces again, yet does not violate Dutch building regulations.
